After finishing up work for the day, Scott went to Jean's office so that they could head out for dinner. She had taken the train into work that morning and he had drove so they took his car. They drove into town, and headed one of their favorite places to eat. It was a little busy, so they had to wait for a table but they just sat and talked about their day.
Finally, they were seated, Scott ordered a bottle of wine, and the sat and talked as they purused the menue.
"Are you feeling better than you were this morning?" He asked Jean.
She smiled. "Yeah, I was just tired from that raid last night. It took a lot out of me."
Scott took her hand in his and gently carassed it.
"Well, don't worry, you can rest tonight."
Jean couldn't help but smirk. "You mean you're going to actually let me sleep?" She asked.
Scott smiled. "Well, eventually." He said with a laugh.
Jean laughed too.
Finally the waitor approached and they order dinner. Once the waitor was gone Scott turned to Jean.
"Can I ask you something?"
Scott paused, trying to find the best way to word it. "Jean, I love you. And we've been dating for a while now and I know it's kind of risky, but," he paused and lowered his voice. "I want you to move in with me."
Jean sat in silence for a few minutes before answering.
"Scott," she said in a low voice. "I love you, but I'm not sure that's such a good idea. I mean, Big Brother is only going to over look so much. I just don't think we can risk it."
"I know, Jean. I know. But, we can talk to him." Scott said, pleading. "I'm sure he'll understand."
"I don't know Scott." Jean said with a sigh. "Can I think about it for a little while?"
"Of course. Take all the time you need."
Jean suddnely looked up at Scott, she had sensed something while they were talking and she couldn't quite place what it was but...finally she nailed it.
"Scott, is that man behind me watching us?" She asked, as softly and casually as possible.
Scott glance at the man sitting behind her, facing him, trying not to make it look like he was staring. Though with his glasses, it wasn't that hard to do. "I think he might be. Do you know him?"
"No, but something about him doesn't feel right."
